The short answer
Use three labels when diagnosing a ReStory problem:
- Fixed in v1.0.010r or v1.0.009r: named in an official patch note.
- Currently listed: still shown on the official support page when checked August 18.
- Community or developer report: useful for matching a symptom, but not a published fix unless the patch notes name it.
Step by step
1. Check the v1.0.010r fixed list
| Area | Status in official August 14 notes |
|---|---|
| Long saves, including a possible crash while saving | Fixed |
| Missing screws that can block progress on a device | Fixed |
| Robby's wires | Minor bug fixed |
The note says the long-save issue was fixed; it does not promise that every crash has the same cause. If saving still crashes on v1.0.010r, preserve the save folder and report the exact moment and version.
2. Check the v1.0.009r fixed list
| Area | Status in official August 11 notes |
|---|---|
| How Did I Do It? and Frugal unlocking early | Fixed |
| Platinum Partner achievement | Fixed |
| Guitar Legend and MyPod firmware error | Fixed |
| Inventory unavailable during the competition | Fixed |
| IDM device disassembly error | Fixed |
| Mail tab not showing new mail | Fixed |
| Ultrawide disassembly problems | Fixed |
| Gadgets stuck in the sonic bath | Fixed |
| Eggotchi, Goman, and Brick Game behavior | Fixed |
If one of these exact symptoms remains on v1.0.010r, capture the current version and report it as a possible regression. Do not say “the patch did nothing” based on a different symptom in the same device.
3. Check the issues that remain listed
The official support page still lists these boundaries:
| Current issue | Safe next step |
|---|---|
| Partial controller support | Use keyboard and mouse for an unavailable action; report the exact controller and screen |
| Dusty component shows a white/silver solder indicator and cannot be soldered | Drop the component and pick it up again, then recheck the state |
| Steam Cloud carries graphics settings and resolution between devices | Recheck display settings after switching machines |
The drop-and-pick-up sequence comes from the official known-issues page. It is specific to the dusty-component indicator problem, not a universal repair reset.
4. Treat the flashlight progression report separately
A developer confirmed a bug in an early task where the game asks the player to find a flashlight seller but the Marketplace offer is missing or out of stock. The developer asked players to report it if it remained after the next patch.
The v1.0.009r notes do not explicitly name the flashlight problem. This site therefore does not mark it fixed or invent a refresh sequence. Follow the evidence-preserving steps in the story progression checklist.
5. Separate competition and Robodog reports from normal progression
Robodog normally belongs to the Akiba Championship story path. A developer separately requested save and log files for a reported state where the license remained unavailable.
Finish the ordinary Robodog unlock route before calling the save softlocked. If the competition itself is the blocker, use the Akiba competition checklist to separate an ordinary locked event from a current-version report. One reported state does not establish a universal cause.
6. Preserve useful evidence
Before reporting an unresolved bug, record:
- the version shown after the latest update;
- the exact device, order, achievement, or story task;
- the visible Notebook, mail, license, or Marketplace state;
- input device and display mode when relevant;
- whether the issue remains after one clean relaunch.
Make a manual save backup before any file replacement.
What not to assume
- A bug fixed in v1.0.009r or v1.0.010r is still an active workaround target for every player.
- Similar symptoms on a different device share the same cause.
- Restarting a playthrough or editing a save is a verified repair.
- Buying another license fixes firmware or story progression.
- A single Steam reply proves a universal workaround.
