The safest way to repair a device is to treat the Notebook as your source of truth. The object on the bench shows what you can reach; the Notebook tells you whether the job still contains a dirty, damaged, missing, or unresolved part.
Use this checklist every time:
- Read the customer’s request.
- Inspect the assembled device.
- Disassemble one layer at a time.
- Check the Notebook as deeper parts become visible.
- Clean, replace, or install every flagged part.
- Reassemble in the reverse order.
- Test, close the job, and deliver it.
Step by step
1. Read the job before touching the screws
Identify the device, the requested result, and whether the order has a deadline. This prevents a common shop-management mistake: spending money or opening a device before you know whether you have the required license, tool, or replacement part.
2. Inspect the complete device
Look at the outside first. Note obvious dirt, damage, and the orientation of removable pieces. The goal is not to memorize every model; it is to build a reliable path back to the original assembly.
3. Disassemble in layers
Remove screws and outer pieces before reaching for deeper components. Current gameplay shows that an important failure can sit below the visible surface. If you stop after finding the first damaged part, the Notebook may still report an unresolved issue.
4. Diagnose by state, not by appearance
Do not treat every bad-looking part the same way.

5. Finish every flagged task before reassembly
Clean what is dirty, replace what is broken, and add what is missing. A donor device from the Marketplace may supply a usable replacement, but its contents are not guaranteed. When money is tight, check your existing inventory before buying a new part.
6. Reassemble in reverse order
Work outward from the deepest installed component. If a piece will not return to position, check whether something beneath it is missing, misplaced, or not fully installed. Do not force a generic sequence onto every device: different products have different structures.
7. Test and close the job
Once the Notebook is clear and the device is complete, use the available test or completion flow. Then finish the customer handoff or email shipment. A working device on the bench is not always the final step in the business loop.
If the repair still will not complete
Check these in order:
- A deep component is still dirty or broken.
- A replacement part is compatible but not actually installed.
- A screw or outer piece has not been returned.
- The Notebook still shows an unresolved state.
- The device is fixed, but the delivery or customer interaction is unfinished.
- Your symptom matches a firmware, IDM, email, or sonic bath issue listed by the developer.
The final point matters because a known launch-build issue should not be presented as a normal player mistake.
What not to assume
- Not every device shares an identical disassembly order.
- A visually clean part is not proof that the Notebook considers it complete.
- A Marketplace device is not guaranteed to contain the part you need.
- Restarting or reinstalling is not a verified universal fix for a stuck repair.
